Flavorful meats grown with respect
Edgefield Farm raises all its animals with respect and care, using management systems designed to reduce stress on the animals and make sure that all their needs -- nutritional and social -- are met.
We offer the following meats:
Lamb
offered whole (cut and wrapped to your specifications) and by the cut
Our lambs are born on pasture and raised on mother's milk and managed pasture. Because the land we use has often been abused or neglected, it is not always able to produce the level of quality that growing lambs require, so we occasionally supplement their diet with whole grains.
Lamb is available by the cut at the Keene winter farmers' market now. We're accepting orders for whole lambs until Feb. 24. Click here for more information.
Pork
offered as whole or half hogs (cut and wrapped to your specifications) and by the cut
Pork, including smoked bacon, hams, and shoulders as well as fresh frozen cuts, is availble now. We will start accepting orders for whole and half hogs starting in August 2012. USDA inspected, vaccuum sealed.
Bulk and wholesale pricing: purchase pork products (excluding bacon) valued at $200 or more at one time and receive a 15 percent discount. Click here for more information.
Pastured chickens
offered whole
Chickens are natural omnivores, and thrive on a diet that includes insects, worms, and plants in addition to their grain. We've chosen to raise birds that have been specifically selected for the production of meat on pasture. You'll notice right away that they are more flavorful and have a more substantial texture than supermarket chicken.
Chickens are sold out until summer of 2012. If you'd like to ensure a regular supply, please contact us and we'll make sure we grow enough to supply your freezer.
Heritage turkeys
offered whole
Like chickens, turkeys love to hunt for their feed and they're very good at it. We've selected a heritage breed called Holland White, a medium-sized slow growing breed that was a mainstay of turkey production before it was replaced by today's broad-breasted white turkeys. Expect a Thanksgiving to remember with one of these birds on your table!
Turkeys are sold out until the Thanksgiving season of 2012.
