Just wanted to let you guys know that Gaius is doing GREAT around the lambs. They are just over a month old now.
I can tell he feels 'something' for them. He is careful around them and gentle.
He has also been gently licking at their tails since they have dropped off. I guess he is just making sure everything is healing back there? Just a lick lick and done... Hopefully that is OK.
He has been sans chain or dangle stick for ages now and seems perfectly fine.
I have had this one particular ewe that keeps getting stuck on her back. I have no idea why other than maybe she has too much wool on her? I think she got rammed in the shoulder about 2 weeks ago and maybe was a little sore and couldn't get up as easily and then ended up on her back? I have no idea what is up with that though. Anyway, Both times I found her on her back, Gaius was not bothering her at all which was great. The two times that he was playful and injured the sheep were when they were stuck on their backs... So 'maybe' he has gotten over this? I hope...
Anyway, I am proud of him. He is doing so great. He is also shedding his undercoat and I was planning on just letting it happen and not doing anything until I noticed how crappy his coat is looking with tufts sticking up everywhere. With all of our tours coming I figured he needs to look a little sharper so I went out and bough a shedding comb and have been brushing him a little bit. I feel guilty like I should not be interacting with him this much but he has to look handsome for his fans!
