Janet, I'm not sure one can separate a release and/or expansion of genetic diversity from the resulting changes in behavior that accompany it. The capacity to teach survival behaviors is always there. Perhaps Boulder is just a good example of how little we appreciate the ability of a top predator to utilize teaching/learning as an avenue to explore its underlying genetic capabilities.
